What is so good about Turkish coffee recipe
I recently come across a nice Turkish coffee recipe when I was searching online for information about Turkish food. The funny thing was that along with a delicious looking Turkish lamb recipe, the search results came up together with Armenian food and Lebanese food information as well.
Well, the coffee lover in me could not just ignore this chance of fate and I had to enrich my list of coffee recipes on the fridge with this new Turkish coffee recipe. What you will need to make this coffee is an ibrik, a traditionally used metallic coffee pot in making turkish coffee.
It usually is made of copper with a tin lining inside but there are stainless steel ones being sold as well. For the ingredients, you would need finely ground coffee, some cardamom, sugar and of course, water.
First, you boil about a cup of water in the ibrik, remove it from the heat and add in a tablespoon of coffee grounds and 1/8 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
Then you heat the mixture to about 70° Celsius just to let it foam a bit and remove it from the heat. For a stronger coffee, you have to let the mixture simmer a bit longer.
The Turkish Coffee Recipe recommended the sugar amount at about a 1:1 ratio with the amount of coffee grounds used, though I like my coffee a bit sweeter so I add more. Then you strain the mixture into a cup, or if you prefer just let it settle a while before pouring and it is ready to drink.
