What is best with a Cuban Cigar?
Smoking cigars and drinking Pinot Noirs wine, not such a bad idea right? But let’s look precisely at what mixes go well with Cuban cigars. Smoking cigars and consuming alcoholic beverages are pleasures that are inexplicably inter-connected. Some cigar smokers want to keep the 2 distinctly compartmentalized. Others with a creative bend of mind would rather have the right spirits to give the right stimulus for smoking a Cuban cigar. Yet others would like to finish their cigar and then go in for a cocktail. Smoking Cuban cigars with just plain fine malt whisky is appealing. That’s a good combo. But, so is fine scotch. Particularly, single malt scotch, these go well with Cuban Cigars. But if you are really into coffee flavored spirits go forward and drink it with topper cigars. This can also be a great compliment to a Cuban Cigar. On Beer, don’t go for puny tasting light-colored lagers. They typically don’t mesh well with Cuban Cigars. Try beers that are dark in color and have a strong flavor. They have what is needed to strike the perfect balance with Cuban Cigars. Many agree that ales and stouts go very well with Cuban Cigars. Stouts are the most powerful beer you might get and there are variations including dry stout and imperial stout. Both go well with Cuban cigars. For example try the combo of chocolaty, puro cigar with a chocolate stout. Generally, go for high quality beer. What about wine? Really only a few wines go with a Cuban cigar. Always avoid an ultra sour wine as well as a sweet wine. Both leave strong aftertaste and do not leave room for the taste of your Cuban cigar. The best is port or red wine. Go in for Spanish or Italian red wines like pinot noir or red zinfandel. These wines do not have overpowering tastes. But they are robust enough to stand strong with a Cuban cigar. The finer the wine is, the better the mix and as a complement, good wine goes well with great cigars. There is one thing that wine and cigars have in common. Both have to be aged, the older they are the better it gets.
