Going from water coolers to fire extinguishers

I work for a company who sell both water coolers and a the drinking fountain style of machine.  Recently the company has opened up a fire division the the company whereby we service fire extinguishers, fire alarms and carry out risk assessments and PAT testing.

I think that this is a transitional process into becoming a facilities company by starting small in certain areas and re-investing into those areas.  The water side of the business started in a similar way and has now become one of the largest mains-fed water cooler companies in the UK.  The fire is now being started in a similar way and we are employing staff and achieving the relevent kite marks and certifications in order to obtain reputable business and corporate contracts in the near future.

The fire company has been set up with no expense spared in terms of the company vehicle, the literature and the website.  A number of employees have started with vast experience from within the field a the future looks bright for this part of the business.  We are approaching existing business offering the products supplied by our fire division and it is proving to be very successful.  On the oher hand to new business within the fire division we can cross sell our water coolers.

It will be very interesting to see where we are in years to come with our growth in both of the above fields combined with internet sales.  It would be very encourgaing to see the company become one of the leading corporate facilities companies within the UK over the next decade
